This is a coincidence in my little world: as I delve into the scriptures, once again studying them in a new light (I am at the same time, visiting Gnostic texts and reading about the history of the scriptures). Meanshile, I am seeing postings on Facebook on people’s reactions to the movie, Noah. Most critics are literalists. According to John Shelby Spong, Author of Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism, when we take the scriptures literally we not only run into all sorts of discrepancies, but we miss the deeper meanings. For him, and for me as well, it is these deeper meanings where we can find God’s message.
I love it when things work together. Less brain stress.
