First of all, I want to thank everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday. One year ago today, I made a commitment to myself that I was going to face the dragon in my life that was keeping me from writing. The first thing I needed to do was to master the computer. I bought a reconditioned HP Pavilion Entertainment PC. I don’t know why the word “entertainment” is used in the name unless, of course, it is referring to the people who would get to read my blog. Then I had to go through a process of selecting a program for word processing and e-mail. I signed up for my own facebook page. My son gave me a tutorial on blog writing and introduced me to a program for storing pictures. On January 26 of this year, I wrote my first blog. I didn’t actually slay the dragon – I just doped it up with some Benadryl. It is still laying there in front of the mythical secret passage singing folk songs but I manage to get around it now and then over its weak objections. No more frightening fire-breathing, though.
I still have much to learn and some things I have already forgotten and have to learn again, but I think I am getting stronger. My writing, I think, is improving and I am actually getting kind of gutsy about what I put out there. It feels a little like I am in dragon-slayer training school. I just don’t dare run out of Bemadryl.
Awesome, Mom. I should come out in January for another couple days of tutoring, shoot that dragon dead. Or mostly dead.
