My daughter gave me a beautiful book with the work of Bandon Stanton, a photo journal with comments, Humans of New York. I like to read it each day whenever I am at the table eating alone. This morning I came across a photo of a mariner perched on his boat looking like he is about to lower his sails and head out into the sea. His comment:
I prefer maritime laws over laws on the land. Maritime laws only exist to guarantee safe passage. There are no loopholes or biases to favor more powerful vessels. Every ship is equal, and no one is more powerful than the sea.
I wonder what life would be like if it were true for the laws of the land.
